Tour de Force 2015-2016

At Dance Theatre South, Tour De Force is a  dance ensemble with a training program specifically created for the dancer interested in enhancing their knowledge, technique and experience by dedicating more time to their dance education.
Participants will be nurtured in a positive environment while being pushed and encouraged to reach their own personal highest potential.
As a training program focused on dedication, demonstration, character-building and competition, participation in this performance ensures life-lessons, as well as dance-lessons.

Company members will be offered training in a more concentrated manner, dedicating more time to weekly classes.
Students will gain additional experience by dancing in local festivals, participating in competitions, attending workshops with Master teachers, sharing their gift of dance through community action.

Dancers have  participated in  Light Up Durham, Duke Children’s Hospital, Githens’ Dance-a-thon and UNC Star Heels Benefits.  They also performed at the Fox 50 Funfest and the UNC Dance Marathon. In addition to raising money for our own costs we have raised money for Hurricane Katrina relief, Ronald McDonald House and Alex’s Lemonade Stand, and Angels Among us. We have also danced a benefit for one of our teammates that was diagnosed with lymphoma and is now dancing with the angels. We are currently involved with Pink Pacers and the Get Heeled Events and have even performed at the UNC gymnastics meets.
Through their efforts they have raised more than $10,000 over the years.

We meet regularly to discuss our upcoming schedule of events, charity and performance opportunities and fundraising. Each dancer has a certain amount of money she needs to raise to cover costume and performance expenses and charities.
